This presentation will focus on effective practices for the support of children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. This is done by asking practitioners to determine the “function or reason” for the behavior and then teaching other ways to behave instead. Practitioners will learn to consider what a child is likely to gain by behaving in a certain way and how to teach socially appropriate behavior to replace the unacceptable behavior.
