I began my journey as a speech language pathologist after graduating from Columbia College in 2004. I joined a team at a primary school and was extremely lucky to be mentored by some of the most wonderful SLPs. During this time, I continued my education at the University of South Carolina where I received my Masters of Communication Disorders in 2007. During this time I learned a lot about various speech and language disorders, but fell in love with my younger clients. After graduating from USC and while still in the schools, I got the opportunity to work in early intervention. During the next two years, I worked in the schools every day and provided speech and language therapy to the birth to three population in the afternoons. My last year in the schools was a wonderful opportunity to further my knowledge in the area of Autism, as I was lucky enough to work in the preschool classroom for children with Autism as well as with preschool speech and language students. I knew how much I enjoyed this younger population, and I found a love with my students in the Autism classroom. I made the decision to leave the schools at this time and pursue speech language pathology in the early intervention field full time. After two years in this area, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to join the Bright Start team. In January of 2013, I was promoted to Speech and Language Pathology Supervisor for our Bright Start SLP team. I am so excited to serve the families of Bright Start and look forward each and every day to learning more and more about my sweet babies and their families!
