Irene Ingram has been an Occupational Therapist since graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1978. In 1980, she founded Therapeutic Designs and Services, Inc. to provide therapy for children in a creative environment.
Utilizing her problem-solving skills, Irene develops an individualized approach for each child so they can reach their highest potential. With 35 plus years of experience working with children and countless hours of continuing education, Irene has become an expert in the field of Occupational Therapy.
She has developed research opportunities to advance the study of the autonomic nervous system’s role in trauma, stress, healing, attention, creativity, and reflex maturation. She has also researched and developed specialized skills for treating the head and neck.
Irene has trained in the following disciplines:
- Extensive study in sensory processing and defensiveness; work with the arousal system for the child’s modulation, self-regulation, self-management, and attention at home and in the classroom.
- Auditory integration with the use Therapeutic Listening and Samonas Sound Therapy
- Intensive work combining Lindamood-Bell programs with other academics and brain integration programs for bringing foundational skills into the child’s reading, math, spelling, and comprehension.
- Cranial Sacral Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage of the brain to assist the body with information processing and overall health.
